Faces Places

There will be a Q&A with Nuala O’Sullivan, founder of the Women Over 50 Film Festival

Unlikely couple 88 year-old director Agnes Varda and photographer and muralist JR (33) create a visual essay on the French in this quirkiest of road movies. Travelling throughout France with a box truck equipped with a portable photo booth and printing facility, they take photographs of the people they meet and places they see, and create colossal mural pictures celebrating them and their communities.

Watch also how Varda’s former Nouvelle Vague colleague, Jean-Luc Godard, adds a discordant note in his own inimitable way towards the end of this graceful film.

‘It is a beguiling and unique piece of work.’ Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
