Victoria

June 28, 20168:30pm

Shot in a snigle, continuous tahe, Victoria tells the tale of a Spanish woman, new to the city of Berlin, who meets two men at a club and gets mixed up in a bank robbery. There are echoes of the French New Wave in the premise, but the style of the film is much more contemporary and muscular, from the pounding techno beats to the blunt violence.

But, more than a technical prodigy, Victoria is an authentic piece of cinematic magic. Taking us deep into one woman’s experience, it’s as adrenaline-charged as any mainstream action cinema, but with a minimum of production frills.” Jonathan Romney, The Guardian

If anything, the greatest accomplishment of “Victoria” is that you stop wondering how it was done and experience the characters and their incredible journey. It becomes less a movie about one take and more a movie about one character.” Braibn Talleric, rogerebert.com
