News: Japan Film Online Roundtable Discussion

Our friends at the Japan Foundation, Japan’s principal agency for international cultural exchange, have arranged an online roundtable discussion on Japanese cinema, which they are holding on Wednesday, the 26th of March.

To commemorate this year’s Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme and its theme of “Justice, Justification and Judgement“, a panel of six film professionals from both Japan and the UK will lead a fascinating exploration of how cinema now and then corresponds to the world we live in, plus its role in our ever-changing society.

Along the way, they will consider what exactly inspires filmmakers to take up matters of justice in their narratives, and whether films can contribute to a public refocusing on otherwise-overlooked problems.

If you are interested in participating via Zoom you can reserve a place here.
