The WFC has screened multiple films with LGBTQ+ themes, many as part of LGBT History Month.
LGBT History Month
You can see a list of the films we have screened in February here. Highlights have included Victim (1961), which included a Q&A with Professor Gill Plain on the historical context of the Wolfenden Report; Vita & Virginia, featuring a Q&A with Dr Sue Grayzel; and Tom of Finland, with a Q&A by local historian Chris Park.
LGBTQ+ Partners
Over the years we have organised screenings of topical films with a number of London-based charities and support groups, many coordinated by Chris Park and the Merton and Sutton LGBT Forums, including Tangerine with TransPALS and Tomboy with Free2B.
Other Programming
In recent years we have screened more films with LGBTQ+ themes as part of the general programme, rather than being limited to LGBT History Month. This has included mainstream Hollywood films, such as Philadelphia, arthouse and social realism dramas, such as Benediction and God’s Own Country, and international releases, such as Monster and The Damned Don’t Cry.
